Natasha and Tim are one of my 2023 Wedding couples and I was so honoured to capture their engagement photos this fall! I absolutely LOVE including complimentary engagement sessions in my wedding packages because it allows me to connect with the couple before their big day!
Here are some reasons why you should do an engagement session with your wedding photographer:
- It is a chance to build a connection before your wedding day! I say this all the time! I'll start with adding that if you are travelling or hiring your photographer for travel, that is okay! You don't absolutely need this session. It's just such a fun addition! If you are client booking me, we always have the opportunity to meet before your wedding whether it's over the phone, coffee, a lunch date, or all 3! I often even meet my clients before booking. These little meet ups are amazing for becoming friends, chatting about all the little details, reviewing your timeline and really getting to know one another! One thing these meet ups don't provide is the opportunity to build a connection working together and let me tell ya, it is SO common for couples to be a little nervous or uncomfortable in front of the camera! That's completely okay! It's my job to help with this, which is where this session acts as PURE MAGIC. Who wouldn't love an opportunity to shake out those jitters, have some fun and really get to learn what working together is like. 100% of my couples who have done engagement photos with me beforehand do not regret it.
- You can use these super cute engagement photos for your wedding invites, save the dates, reception decor, etc. You name it, we've got a photo for it!
- You understand the gallery delivery software and downloading! This isn't difficult by any means and instructions are always sent in my gallery invites, but if you're like me, you LOOOVE to know how to do things before you really have to do them! This is the perfect opportunity for that!
- My last reason for booking an engagement session with your wedding photographer is the brutally honest one! If nothing else to you, this photo session is a trial run! Just like your hair, makeup, trying on dresses, etc. us humans gain confidence by doing, and seeing results! This session is just that! Use this time with your photographer to run through poses and then take the opportunity to review the results so your wedding photos can be everything you dreamed of and more!
